Google promises to provide long-term support and updates to low-end devices through their Android One project. Last year Xiaomi launched the midrange Mi A1 that came out with Android 7.1.2 Nougat, which was later upgraded to Android 8.0 Oreo.
Xiaomi in collaboration with Google promised the users to provide major Android upgrades till Android 9.0 Pie.
The moment has finally come. Android Pie which officially came out on 6 August 2018 in early releases is finally rolling out to Xiaomi Mi A1.
Xiaomi recently started to roll out the update for Mi A2 and Mi A2 Lite. Now it is the time for the predecessor to get the taste of the sweetest offering from Google.
Not everyone is receiving the update as of now. It’s a slow rollout and might a few days to reach your device.
Make sure you go to Settings > System > System update and click on ‘Check for update’.
Android One is a pure Android experience that was developed with low-end or midrange devices in mind. The only option to experience the real power of Android was to buy a Nexus or Pixel device. With Android One, possibilities are limitless.
Android 9.0 (Pie) For Xiaomi Mi A1
The update comes with a size of 1074.9 MB with new features including:
- FM Radio
- Adaptive battery and brightness
- Simpler ways to navigate your phone
- Recommended apps and context based on your context
- Dual VoLTE Support
FM Radio was not available for the global variants of Mi A1 on both Nougat and Oreo. Only the Chinese variant of Mi A1 names Mi 5X had it. Now it has been available to everyone with the new update.
You can use the 4G network on both of your SIM cards at the same time with this update.
Head over to Settings > Network & Internet > Mobile Network and change the second SIM ‘Preferred Network Type’ to 4G. This will enable the usage of 4G network on both of your SIM cards.
